Moisture Mapping & ELD Testing

ELD Testing using Troxler Forensic Roofing Solutions

Troxler Moisture Mapping

Troxler Moisture Mapping is an effective, non-invasive way of detecting moisture within a roofing system. It works using tiny amounts of non-harmful radiation to locate hydrogen ions in your roof system and pin point areas of moisture.

During a Troxler survey, we create a grid map of your entire roof surface and take a reading at each grid intersection. From this information we can analyse the health of your roof and gauge the extent and location of water ingress. We will then recommend remedial action based upon the survey results.

ELD Testing

Electronic Leak Detection testing is used to accurately pinpoint penetrations in flat or low slope single ply roofing systems. Testing is done in dry conditions and works by passing a current over the roof through a phosphor bronze brush electrode. As most roof systems are non-conducting, the current will earth through any areas that have a penetration, showing as an earthing spark.

This non-destructive method of testing enables us to quickly and accurately identify the location of any defects in the single ply membrane, such as pinholes or defective laps, which we then mark on the roof. Once the roof survey is complete, we plot all the areas in need of attention on a roof plan and recommend a schedule of remedial work to correct the problems.

We also perform ELD testing as a quality control measure on newly built single ply roofs to ensure that they are fault-free and in optimum condition after completion.
